Kenosha Unified School Minority Leadership Program

The African American Student Leadership Council consolidates the Kenosha Unified School District African American Male and Female Initiatives (AAMI and AAFI) into one cohesive organization. This student-led initiative is geared to provide mentorship and guidance to young minority students to aid in their professional and social development. The students will be responsible for developing a Charter with defined roles and an annual community engagement plan.

Through this initiative, students can gain meaningful volunteer credit hours through local organizational events, such as Juneteenth and local festivals or events. At the conclusion of each academic year, DM2 Solutions will host an annual scholarship banquet recognizing students who demonstrate exceptional leadership within the council, academic achievement, and substantial community contributions—with selection criteria extending beyond just grades, to include council participation and logged community service hours. The banquette will be formal and will demonstrate the students’ etiquette skills improved within the program and to watch them enjoy being fancy!

Through unification, we can create a powerful platform for African American students to lead collaborative community projects and build tangible skills while also accessing educational funding opportunities as well.
